32. The Tools and Property of the Monastery

With regard to the goods of the monastery—its tools, clothing or other things—let the abbot appoint brothers on whose lives and character he can rely. Then, after deciding what will be useful, let him entrust to them the various tools that they are to take care of and bring back. Let the abbot keep a list of these things so that as the brothers follow each other in these assignments, he may know what he hands out and what he gets back.

If anyone treats the things of the monastery with disregard or carelessness, let him be corrected; if he does not change, let him be subject to the discipline of the Rule.
