20. Reverence at Prayer
When we want to bring anything to the notice of the powerful, we do not presume to do so except with humility and reverence; 2 so how much more should we with all humility and pure devotion make our prayer to the Lord, the God of all things?
3 We should also realize that we are heard not for our many words but for our purity of heart and tears of compunction. 4 Therefore, prayer ought to be short and pure unless perhaps lengthened by the inmost feeling of inspiration from divine grace.
5 In community, however, let the prayer always be short, and at the superior’s signal, let them all rise together.
