52. The Oratory of the Monastery

The oratory ought to be what it is called, and nothing else should be done or kept there. When the Work of God is finished, let all leave in complete silence, and let reverence for God prevail, so that a brother who perhaps wants to pray alone may not be thwarted by another’s unruliness.

And also, if someone else at another time, perhaps, wants to pray by himself, let him just go in and pray, not in a loud voice, but with tears and keenness of heart.

Therefore, anyone not doing work like this should not be permitted to stay in the oratory once the Work of God is finished, so that, as has been said, no one has to endure the interference of another.
