30. The Correction of Young Boys

Every age and intellectual ability ought to have its proper measure. Therefore, whenever there are boys and adolescents or others less able to understand the gravity of excommunication as a punishment, let such individuals, when they commit an offense, be restrained either by severe fasts or sharp blows so that they may be healed.
