ETD 433: Computer Numerical Control

Course Description:  An advanced course that teaches students machining concepts along with CAD/CAM software knowledge in order to generate parts using computer numerical control (CNC) machines. The relationship and application of CNC to product design in engineering will also be explored.

Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Identify CNC methods used throughout industry.
  2. Generate numerical code using CAD/CAM software to effectively control the operation of CNC equipment.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to apply basic machining techniques to manufacture a product/part.
  4. Create parts that can successfully be manufactured using CNC machines.
