Librarians, instructional designers, and instructional technologists (LIDIT) are valuable personnel in the academic environment. They have specialized expertise that few others have, which can impact students, faculty, and staff. However, due to department organizations and hierarchy, some of these personnel may need the opportunity to collaborate and encourage meaningful discussions around important topics, such as OER. With the library’s capacity for resources and research and the instructional expert’s knowledge of best practices, they stand to be an unstoppable force for OER, affordable learning, and best practices in course design.

This chapter focuses on the relationships that can exist between LIDIT, offering ideas for more collaboration and connection around the topic of OER and affordable learning.
