53\u00a0<\/sup>Not to speak words that are vain or that give rise to laughter.<\/p>\r\n

54\u00a0<\/sup>Not to love much or explosive laughter.<\/p>\r\n

55\u00a0<\/sup>To listen willingly to holy reading.<\/p>\r\n

56\u00a0<\/sup>To devote yourself frequently to prayer.<\/p>\r\n

57\u00a0<\/sup>To confess the evil deeds of your past to God in prayer daily with tears and sighs.<\/p>\r\n

58\u00a0<\/sup>To change these evil ways in the future.<\/p>\r\n

59\u00a0<\/em><\/sup>\u201cNot to carry out the desires of the flesh.\u201d (Gal 5:16)<\/em><\/p>\r\n

61\u00a0<\/sup>To obey the instructions of the abbot in all things, even though he himself, God forbid, should act otherwise, mindful of the Lord\u2019s own teaching: \"Do what they say; but do not do what they do.\" (Matt 23:3)<\/em><\/p>\r\n

73<\/sup> To return in peace to anyone with whom you have quarreled before the sun sets.<\/p>\r\n

74\u00a0<\/sup>Never to despair of God\u2019s mercy.<\/p>\r\n

75\u00a0<\/sup>Behold, these are the tools of the spiritual craft. 76<\/sup>\u00a0If we have used them constantly, day and night, and return them on the Day of Judgment, we shall gain from the Lord that reward which he himself has promised:<\/p>\r\n\r\n

77<\/sup> Eye has not seen, nor ear heard<\/em>\r\nwhat God has prepared for those who love him. (1 Cor 2:9)<\/em><\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
