Best Practices<\/h2>\r\n<i>2.1<\/i>.\u00a0<b>Disable Windows Updates and Automatic Software Installs<\/b>: Panopto highly recommends that machines do not have automatic Windows updates or software updates.\u00a0Updates should be manual and occur when Panopto is not recording.\u00a0If an automatic Windows update\u00a0or software install runs while\u00a0Panopto is recording, there is a risk that sessions will be cut short, corrupted, or have other issues. \u00a0<i>Please feel free to review\u00a0Microsoft's Technet article on disabling automatic Windows updates:\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/gallery.technet.microsoft.com\/Disable-Windows-10-Update-d88172e3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disable Windows 10 Update \u2013 Quick Reference Guide<\/a>.<\/i>\r\n\r\n<i>2.2<\/i>.\u00a0<b>Update Panopto Regularly<\/b>:\u00a0Panopto recommends updating Panopto\u00a0consistently. Otherwise, users will miss out on our latest upgrades and bug fixes.\u00a0It is important to note that, if the version running goes out of support, users will be unable to sign in\u00a0and\/or upload files to the server.\u00a0\u00a0<i>For more information, please visit:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.panopto.com\/s\/article\/Recorder-Upgrade-Policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn About the Recorder Upgrade Policy<\/a><\/i>\r\n\r\n<i>2.3.\u00a0<\/i><b>Use the 64-bit recording client<\/b>\u00a0(if possible):\u00a0Using the 32-bit version of Panopto could cause issues, as 32-bit has limitations on RAM usage. These limitations can lead to a lack of necessary resources, especially when using large PowerPoint files.\u00a0<i>Note: if you have a device with only a 32-bit driver, we recommend you run thorough testing with the 32-bit version of our software.<\/i>\r\n\r\n<i>2.4.\u00a0<\/i><b>Use equipment from Panopto's officially endorsed equipment list<\/b>\u00a0(if possible):\u00a0This equipment is known to work with Panopto. For details and a list of equipment, please visit:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.panopto.com\/s\/article\/Officially-Endorsed-Panopto-Equipment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn About Officially Endorsed Panopto Equipment<\/a>.\u00a0<i>Note: Panopto should work with most equipment so long as it can be seen by Windows or Mac.\u00a0\u00a0If you are using equipment that is not listed in the equipment guide, please complete additional testing to ensure there are no issues.\u00a0If you run into issues, please place a ticket with our support team.\u00a0We would be glad to help.<\/i>\r\n\r\n<i>2.5.<\/i>\u00a0<b>Increase the event log size<\/b>: consider increasing the event log size to 200 MB or more. This will ensure that when issues occur, the logs should go back far enough to cover the issue.
